KDP charges a fixed fee plus a cost per page, which depends on the marketplace, ink, paper and trim size. On Amazon.com a black-and-white regular-trim paperback costs $1.00 + $0.012 per page, so 300 pages cost $4.60. Books with 110 pages or fewer pay a flat $2.30.
On Amazon.com a black-ink regular-trim hardcover costs $5.65 + $0.012 per page, so 300 pages cost $9.25. Hardcovers with 108 pages or fewer pay a flat $6.80. KDP prints hardcovers for Amazon.com, .co.uk, the EU stores, .pl and .se.
KDP divides your printing cost by your royalty rate, so the royalty always covers printing. A $4.60 paperback can be listed from $9.20 at the 50% rate. If that would land above $9.98, the 60% rate applies and the minimum is printing cost ÷ 0.6, but never below $9.99.
KDP treats any trim wider than 6.12" or taller than 9" as large, and large trims have a higher per-page cost. On Amazon.com, black-and-white pages cost $0.017 each in a large trim instead of $0.012.
Yes. Each Amazon store has its own fixed fee and per-page cost in its own currency. A 300-page black-and-white regular paperback costs $4.60 on Amazon.com, 3.85 GBP on Amazon.co.uk and 4.35 EUR on the EU stores.
